Wrapped
Installation
and animation using lining paper to cover the exact size and shape of the
Cadman Gallery walls at Staffordshire University. The week long installation
involved the paper being transformed each day into a new shape and order that
reacted to the space. The final animation was inspired by a zoetrope and
initial inspiration came from a Buddhist proverb; 'a piece of cloth was folded to fit into the
palm of Buddha's hand and when unfolded it covered the entire earth.'
Wrapped reinterprets an everyday material and a common experience, examining how unexpected interruptions in a space can challenge our senses and the order of the world around us. The installation was recorded using time-lapse photography and reveals the whole process of the project.
Exhibited at Flaxman Gallery; Staffordshire University as part of the AA2A final Exhibition.
Supported by AA2A and Staffordshire University
March 2013
Material/dimensions: walls 67.2m2, lining paper, tacks, Displayed as a projection into the corner of the gallery 1.5m2
